FOX has announced Empire will end after its sixth season. The Lee Daniels‘ drama famously starred Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, Gabourey Sidibe, Serayah, Ta’Rhonda Jones and Bryshere Gray.

Unlike Daniels’ other series Star, which was canceled last week, the Lyons will get a proper send-off with 20 episodes. “We are turning the final season into a large TV event, we are trying to go out guns a blazing. You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve,” said Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier.

The series and its cast collectively have won over 10 awards, including several NAACP Image Awards.

While it seems as if some of our favorite shows aren’t returning, Power is also ending this year, This Is Us will return for three more seasons as well as fan favorite How To Get Away With Murder, Blackish and Greys Anatomy.
