By Rhonda Silver – “Survivor” A True Story by Denise Jenkins James Conners was launched last Saturday at a book signing held at James Weldon Johnson’s YMCA. In her presentation she engages participants with vignettes of her soul stirring story of naivety, passion, abuse and how, by the grace of God she survived. An innocent and ambitious girl gambles on love and lost. “I wanted to share my experience of being in a volatile and violent relationship. My story has a tone of survival that I hope will inspire readers” she said. Statistics show that 13% of teenage girls have been in a relationship where they have been abused.
