by Lynn Jones-Turpin – In its fifth year, jazz artist and Raines graduate Akia Uwanda and Friends held her annual ‘Holiday Jazz and Soul Dinner’ party to a sold out crowd inside the Eagles Nest event center in Arlington.

The glitz and glamour themed event agenda incorporated the friend’s band playing smooth jazz melodic sounds, door prizes and giveaways and a fun game of musical chairs.  Holding down the dance floor was the bebop sounds of DJ Senaj with host Akia serenading the events guest with holiday songs of cheer.

“Music, writing, producing and entertaining is my passion and spreading holiday cheer is always a way to spread love during the holidays,” said Uwanda.  Recently Uwanda released her long-awaited debut album, Lift.

Next up for Akia Uwanda and friends is their annual Valentines soiree scheduled for February 11th inside the Embassy Suites Hotel.
