Sidney Poitier’s Director Daughter Witnesses Standing Ovation at St. Augustine Film Fest

The 14th annual Saint Augustine Film Festival was celebrated last weekend bringing together theater t lovers from around the country. over the years, the fesitval reputation has grown within the film industry and among film fans as the most historic location for showing unique INDIE Films. This years event was punctuated by  the screening of ‘Sidney,’ directed by the acting legends daughter Pamela Poitier.

The film showcases historians, personal friends and family as they honor the actors legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement. She also introduced the movie and did an up-close-and-personal Q&A following the file. “I am so happy with the film on my Dad. It is an honest and sincere memorial. I loved my Dad so much – I was thrilled to bring the film to the great audience of the Saint Augustine Film Festival.” said Poitier.

The Film Festival featured thirty-five films from ten countries. Screening took place at various theaters in St. Augustine. The total audience count was   was 7,791 for the four days. Special events included parties, screenings and preentaion of the Lifetime Achievement and Spotlight Film Award.  recognition’s.  The 15th Annual Saint Augustine Film Festival will unspool in January 2025 and is funded in part by the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council.
