The achievements and lasting contributions of Black women across Florida are being celebrated in “The Power of Her Presence: Honoring the Legacy of Black Women in Florida,” a traveling exhibition on display at the Ritz Theater & Museum, through November 2.
Created by the African American Women’s History Month Project (AAWHMP, Inc.), founded by Chenise Lytrelle Williams, the exhibition spotlights trailblazers in dedication, medicine, politics, law, business, the arts and community activism whose leadership helped shape Florida history.
The exhibition is dedicated to Jacksonville native Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, the renowned educator and former president of Spelman College whose groundbreaking career has influenced generations of women. Through stories of perseverance, leadership and service, the exhibit celebrates women who broke barriers while inspiring future generations to recognize their own potential.
The exhibition runs Oct. 2 – Nov. 2 at the Ritz Theater & Museum, 829 N. Davis St., reinforcing the message that Black women’s history is an essential part of Florida history.
