The 5000 Role Model of Excellence program held its inaugural summit at the FSCJ Downtown last weekend with the theme, “The making of a King transforming Boys into Men”. Over 600 young men were dressed in white long sleeve shirts which were donated to the role model of excellence program in addition to thousands in scholarships. Students were also presented with a surprise signature class ring the first of its kind to go along with their signature red and black ties.
Community leaders were on hand to conduct workshops and provide leadership nuggets. “I’m so excited that we met our goal and look forward to mentoring the young men and continuing our work. On behalf of 5000 Role Model Excellence we want to thank everyone for their support of the dress shirts and books,” said Hill. When gifted with the white shirts and red ties, students walk with pride as such events as legislative tours, college tours and church services. “These shirts automatically make the young men go from suspects to prospects, we also make sure these young men are ready when the doors of opportunity open, they can walk through the door. The continued goal is to not balk when it comes to educating students, yet stay silent when sending them to prison.” said Hill.
