In a hands on approach to empower empower girls to make the best choices for their brightest futures, the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville, Inc. (JaxPAL), hosted DNA (Dream Big,Navigate through life’s challenges and Achieve your Ambitions) last weekend. The event is an annual, one-of-a-kind, all-girl slumber party for girls ages 10-16. It brings together female law enforcement officers and adult role models with young girls for a fun-filled night of education, inspiration, and celebration.

This year event’s theme was Own It,!”  The theme was selected for girls to own their uniqueness, but also about celebrating girl bosses everywhere. Throughout the night, the young ladies interacted with local, successful, women entrepreneurs in addition to completing four interactive, hands-on courses about how to start a business. At the end of the sessions, the girls performed a commercial for their business or service idea in small groups. The event also included a special RIP the Runway style fashion show modeled by women law enforcement officers.
The evening concluded with a traditional sleep over with sleeping bags and activities including dancing, snacks and watching movies.  Shown are some of the sleeping bag attendees ready for the nights chosen movie.
