In a world where beauty still defines a woman’s attributes, the 6th Annual Miss Fabulous Woman Pageant was held over the weekend at the Eagles Nest Conference center. There were eleven pageant contestants ranging from ages 20 to 50 years of age.  This year’s theme was: “The School of the Fabulous Woman, the best lessons in life are learned from experiences.”
The pageant creates a platform for African American women to share mental, physical, emotional or even spiritual stories of triumph and empowerment.  The categories were casual wear, creative interpretation and formal wear.  Licensed Cosmetologist and Health/Life Coach Shakira Keynoa Poitier, age 48, was crowned the 40+ category Fabulous Woman, Ms. Entrepreneur and People’s Choice Award queen. Her platform detailed her story of transformation of her mind and body and unveiling her full potential; letting go of baggage, circumstances and fear. “I’m always unapologetically my authentic self, this group of ladies were amazing to work with, we formed an unbreakable bond of sisterhood,” said Poitier.
Other pageant winners include: Lazonya Price (1st Place 50+), Be’Larria Exhelberger (Ms. Congeniality), Katrina Taylor (2nd Place 40+), Most Photogenic 40+), Arlissa Denson (1st Place 30+), Lavonda Williams (2nd place 50+) and Michelle Ellis (Most Photogenic 30+).
