Helping to keep the arts alive, Creative Genius is an after-school program at The Performance Academy located on Beach Blvd. The daily after-school sessions combine arts education with academic support and life skills development. At the end of each quarter, the teens showcase their art at an Open House for friends, family and the public.
Recently the center held its annual open house with students showcasing their talents, with the theme, ‘I AM.” Students ascended to the stage with their diverse production versions showcasing visual arts, music production, dance, film, fashion and design and poetry skits. Mentorship comes from teaching artists in their different creative fields. The program is free for ages 12 – 18. The curriculum is literary infused; project based and meets the needs of teens who are often disengaged and missing out on meaningful relationships within their community.
