Mike Tyson Rejects Evander Holyfield’s Offer to Fight Him Again in the Ring

Mike Tyson and Evander HolyfieldNationwide — Evander Holyfield, now 62 years old, has expressed interest in a trilogy fight against 58-year-old Mike Tyson. This comes after Tyson recently faced Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium, where he struggled to perform due to a knee issue. The fight, which drew significant attention, showed Tyson’s difficulty throwing punches, raising questions about his physical condition.

Holyfield, who attended the event, shared his thoughts on Tyson’s performance. “You can tell something was wrong with Tyson’s leg. His balance was off,” he observed. Despite the evident challenges Tyson faced, Holyfield wasted no time in taking to social media to call him out, writing, “The fans want it #unfinishedbusiness.”

However, according to Sporting News, Tyson was quick to shut down the idea of a trilogy fight. In a heartfelt response, he wrote, “I love you brother, but the trilogy is our friendship.” Tyson’s comment emphasized their bond over the prospect of stepping into the ring again.

Tyson later revealed the extent of his struggles leading up to the fight against Paul. He shared that he had nearly died in June, undergoing eight blood transfusions, losing half his blood, and shedding 25 pounds while hospitalized. Despite these challenges, Tyson expressed gratitude for being able to fight. “To have my children see me stand toe-to-toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. Thank you,” he said.

Holyfield’s recent track record in the ring has also been challenging. He last fought in 2021 against former UFC champion Vitor Belfort, a bout that ended in less than a minute with a loss. Despite this, Holyfield seems eager to rekindle the rivalry with Tyson, highlighting the enduring legacy and intrigue surrounding their storied careers.
