Michael Ealy to Play Malcolm X in Upcoming Muhammad Ali Series “The Greatest” on Amazon Prime Video

Nationwide — Michael Ealy will play Malcolm X in The Greatest, Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming limited series about boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The show will follow Ali’s personal and public life, with Jaalen Best starring as the champion.

Backed by executive producer Michael B. Jordan and showrunner Ben Watkins, The Greatest is the first authorized scripted series about Ali’s life. It will explore his life not just as a sports icon, but as a father, husband, brother, son, and activist.

According to Deadline, Ealy joins a cast that includes Kai Parham as Ali’s younger brother Rudy Clay, Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier as Ali’s parents, and Amin Joseph as rival Sonny Liston.

Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s widow, also serves as executive producer, along with Jordan, Watkins, and others from Roc Nation, Universal Music Group, and Polygram Entertainment.

The series aims to highlight how Ali used his platform beyond the ring, with producers promising a human, layered portrayal of the icon. Watkins called the project a dream come true, while Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez described it as a tribute to Ali’s cultural impact.
