Since 2017, when the first Melanin Market opened on the Eastside on A. Phillips Randolph Blvd, the area has been uplifted through volunteer services, companies and organizations seeking to assist business owners in the area.
The market extends from A. Philip Randolph Boulevard from Union to Odessa Street in the noted historical African American community. The Melanin Market’s mission platform was created to highlight and connect  minority-owned businesses’ products, services, art, culture, food and fellowship with customers and the community. Held three times a year, event usual kicks off on Black Friday to capture the attention of consumer’s motive to spend for the holidays.  The Melanin Market also offers workshops and a series of community events, exhibits, and volunteer projects with Eastside community leaders and partners.
