The Gaffney family and community lost a beloved member on May 10, 2021 as Ms. Louise Gaffney went home to be with our Lord. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL, she grew up in the Mixon Town neighborhood and attended West Louisville Elementary, A.L. Lewis Jr. High, and ‘Old’ Stanton High School. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and (along with her siblings) began attending Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church due to their dynamic youth ministry.
Louise will always be remembered as loving, supportive, giving, hardworking, and selfless. She was proud of her children, family and community. Also know as an outstanding cook, she loved hospitality; music; shopping; and having a good laugh with family and friends. Louise was preceded in glory by her husband, George T. Gaffney; parents, Johnny, and Annie Bell Madison; and brother, Alphonso Madison, Sr. (Inez). She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Virginia Crane (Albert Nathan, Sr.); her five sons: Don (Tracy); Derrick; Warren; Reginald; and Johnny; godsister, Barbara Jean McKinney; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; godchildren; nieces; and nephews. A homegoing service is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing will be Friday, May 21, 2021 5–7 p.m. at Emanuel. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at Q L Douglas Funeral Home, 2403 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204
