The People Reading for Inspiration, Discussion and Enjoyment (P.R.I.D.E.) Book club celebrated its’ 26th Anniversary at Bleu Chocolat Café in Springfield celebrating the best of Black authors. Michael Huyghue, author of Behind The Line Of Scrimmage: Inside the Front Office of the NFL, served as the November author. Huyghue gained widespread prominence as the youngest and one of the first black general managers in professional football. He held a top leadership role in operations for the NFL owners and served as senior vice president for football operations of the startup NFL team Jacksonville Jaguars. During the team’s first five seasons he led the club to more wins than any new franchise in the history of the NFL, including a remarkable two AFC Championship game appearance. Huyghue’s career also included stops at the Detroit Lions, the NFL Management Council and the NFL Players Association. A Cornell graduate, he and his wife reside in Jacksonville with their children.

Huyghue book delivers a bird’s eye view of the inner workings of the inner sanctum of the NFL owners, players and management. His journey as an athlete and lawyer also validates his behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes on behind closed doors in the world of professional sports and collegiate athletic programs.
P.R.I.D.E. is Jacksonville’s oldest and largest book club for people of color. Throughout their tenure, P.R.I.D.E. has read and discussed 312 books.
