With the Powerball jackpot climbing to $174 million and the Mega Millions rolling over to $60 million after yesterday’s draw, Floridians are hoping to win big – and new data suggests some stores might actually be luckier than others.
Casino.org collected and analyzed over 20 years of US lottery data, including more than 132,000 winning Mega Millions and Powerball tickets. From that, they could determine the stores where the most valuable jackpot-winning tickets were purchased. We’ve used this data to create a ranking of the “luckiest” stores, cities/towns, and states.
Seeing as you cover the local Jacksonville area, I thought this could be of interest.
Key findings:
- Publix in Neptune Beach (16 miles from Jacksonville) is the luckiest lottery store in Florida, with $1.6 billion in winning tickets sold.
- The store ranks as the 3rd luckiest out of all U.S. lottery stores.
- Jacksonville has sold a total of $349.3 million in winning lottery tickets, ranking it as the 8th luckiest city in Florida.
- Florida is the 2nd luckiest state in America, with total claimed lottery prizes reaching $9.4 billion.
