The 100 Black Men of Jacksonville presented its Bernard V. Gregory Scholarship Banquet, last weekend at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. The event hosted 150 attendees and presented 13 scholarships to deserving students. The scholarship fund was established after the passing of founding member Bernard Gregory, a community trustee known as a champion for the entire community and who gave tirelessly through volunteerism
“Awardees are worthy of this support because they have chosen to follow their dream of academic and leadership excellence,” said Charles Griggs, President of the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville, Inc. “These young people are the future of our community, and it is great to be able to assist them as they take flight.”
As an added incentive, six first year students received HP laptop computers. The 2019 Bernard V. Gregory Scholarship awardees are: Arianna Pinnix, Nia Guine-Herndon, Tamara Bentley, Mombo Ngo, Micheaila Jones, Christopher Jett Jr., Essence Burton, Ciaira Long, Jayla Washington, Nikayla Byirt, Ryan Williams, Christopher Champine, and Natalie Cline.
