Governor Wes Moore of Maryland, Black Leaders in NC Highlight Support for Vice President Harris, Slam Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda

On Sunday, Governor Wes Moore of Maryland, State Rep. Zack Hawkins, Raleigh Councilmember Corey Branch, North Carolina Central University senior Devin Freeman, business owner and southeast Raleigh native James Montague and other community leaders held a press conference highlighting their support for Vice President Harris, and slamming the Trump-Robinson extreme Project 2025 agenda to hurt the middle class, rip away fundamental freedoms, and put our democracy at risk.

“Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have a clear vision for a new way forward that uplifts working families including in Black communities and ensures that we all have the chance to not just get by, but get ahead,” said Governor Wes Moore of Maryland. “Extremists like Donald Trump and Mark Robinson are one and the same — running to push their Project 2025 agenda and raise costs for millions of working families across our country. It is on us to lead the way to the ballot box this November and elect the clear choice for our community, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz.”

“Vice President Harris has real solutions to tackle key issues impacting our community – like housing affordability with her comprehensive, four-year plan to lower housing costs for working families,” said State Representative Zack Hawkins. “The choice this November is clear: Vice President Harris is fighting to uplift our communities while Donald Trump, Mark Robinson and their Project 2025 agenda will only hurt Black communities and put the American Dream further out of reach for so many North Carolina families.”

“Donald Trump has failed our community before, and if elected, he will fail us again with his extreme Project 2025 agenda. Supported by MAGA allies like Mark Robinson, Trump will raise taxes for the middle class and make it harder for us to provide for our families,” said Raleigh Councilmember Corey Branch. “Black men like me are supporting Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz because they are leaders who believe in investing in the potential of our innovation, our hard work, and our communities.”

“Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are the right leaders to help young people like myself move forward, while Donald Trump and JD Vance are trying to take us backwards,” said NC Central University senior Devin Freeman. “Donald Trump, Mark Robinson, and their extreme Project 2025 agenda are out of step with the needs and values of my generation. That’s why I’m proud to elect Vice President Kamala Harris at the ballot box, and fight for the only presidential candidate fighting for me.”

“Vice President Harris knows that investing  in small businesses and lowering costs, including for housing, will  grow the middle class and create economic opportunity for the Black community,” said Raleigh resident and business owner James Montague. “On the other hand, Donald Trump’s only economic plan for a second term is his Project 2025 agenda which would raise costs on middle class families and make it harder for folks to get ahead. Black North Carolinians cannot afford another Donald Trump term or a Mark Robinson governorship, especially when we have a chance to move forward with Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”
