Richard L. Brown Elementary for the Gifted and Academically Talented hosted their graduation commencement ceremony last week for forty-two rising 6th grade students.
Fifteen of the rising stars participate in P.E.A.R.L.S. (Positive Engagement Accelerates Relevant Leadership Skills) and also in Tristan’s Acceleration Academy’s (TAA) Educational Enhancement Program Services. Tristan’s Acceleration Academy’s p.S.T.E.A.h.M is the philosophy through which Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Heritage, and Mathematics are applied to accelerate relevant skills. The program immerses gifted, accelerated and exceptional students in a year-round education enhancement learning model to activate and improve education outcomes for the “urban gifted” students.
The program includes a Leadership Development after school program on the school campus, enhancement workshops every other Saturday at local libraries and a Power Summer Camp for targeted skills enrichment.
Leadership Superlative Honors were awarded to Ziyah J. (PEARLS President/Safety Patrol Captain), Kimora H. (Robotic Team Co-Captain), Samantha T. (Robotic Team Co-Captain) and D’Yaundra F. (Most Likely to be Athletic).
P.E.A.R.L.S. attributes their success to supportive adult family members and friends who do good things.
“We want the students to always do their best and always be their best,” said program creator Arlene Cameron-Lloyd. For more information visit website at www.tristansacdemy.org.
