2024 has been the year for organizations to revamp their post covid calendar activities. To get on the right track, Helping Others Prepare for Empowerment (H. O. P. E., Inc.) nonprofit of First New Zion Missionary Baptist Church held their inaugural Spring Health Fair and Community Awareness event at their Soutel campus.

The ‘Better Health and Healthy Living’ themed event was attended by 150 neighbors and church members. Participants received health screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, a clothes bazaar and covid-19 vaccination information and the coveted watermelon raffle!

“We are now starting to get back on our feet to continue our mission to help the community. Our doors will always be the location for those in need,” said Sandra Lawson, Sunday School Superintendent.

First New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, is affectionately known as “The Healing Place,” a body of believers that are intentional about learning and sharing the word through evangelismhospitality, music, media and the fine arts, while taking time to visit nursing homes and the sick and shut in.  Shown is attendee Kelly Wilson receiving information from Tracey Mills of Community Hospice.
