    Final Services Set for Educator Aria Rogers Peterson

    Final services have been set for longtime Duval County educator Mrs. Aria Louise Rogers Peterson who transitioned Saturday, October 10, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, the late Albert Carl Peterson.

    To this lively union three daughters were born.

    Mrs. Peterson received her early education from Old Stanton High School and received her Masters Degree from Florida A&M University. Her particular passion was writing poetry which she began in grammar school collectively writing over 100 poems. She is the author of ‘Poems of Thought’ and also co-authored “Three Generations,” with her oldest daughter Linda Crawford and granddaughter Maria Crawford. Mrs. Peterson was a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. As an educator with the Duval County School Board for over 28 years, she retired in 1987 and substituted for 15 additional years. Other affiliations include Duval Retired Teachers, Association Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, National Council of Negro Women, Iris Garden Circle, Retired Ministry of Second Baptist Church, Live Long and Like It Senior Citizen Club and Wilder Park Club.

    She leaves to cherish her memory three devoted and faithful daughters: Linda P. Crawford, Carolyn P. (Herman) Floyd and Toni P. Munday; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host family and friends.

    The family will receive visitors Thursday, October 22, 5-7 p.m. at Marion Graham Mortuary, 1504 Gandy St. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, October 23, 10 a.m., Second Missionary Baptist Church, 954 Kings Rd.
