Hundreds of fans stood in line to hear the Groove Coalition band tribute to New Edition singing group, held at Downtowns Manhattans Sports Bar. Heralded as one of the top male bands of the 20th Century, Ronnie (DeVoe), Bobby (Brown), Ricky (Bell), Mike (Bivins), Ralph (Tresvant)and Johnny’s (Gill) journey as teen idols did not come easy. In their honor a TV movie was made depicting their life growing up in Boston. The movie also showcased their talents and how the group had to endure the shame of producers and executives that swindled funds for personal gain. Eventually, the group produced a bevy of gold record hits and continue to perform on stages across the globe. Groove Coalition band fan Meeka Swain smiled, “Wow, I grew up with New Edition and every time I hear their songs, I get excited. My friends and I sang to the lyrics and danced the night away,” said Swain.  Shown is Swain with fans Tony Houston and Adrian George.
