The Jacksonville Forestview Outlaws Mitey Mite Team (Ages 7-9) made it to the first ever Pop Warner National Finals nationals for thier age group. They defeated the Sarasota Sundevils 19-0 for the National Championship which was announced by ESPN.
“The teams hard work paid off, playing, they were extremely excited, realizing that they had the opportunity to win and win big,” said Head Coach Deante Hampton.
Even though the team was in need of monies to travel, they eventually raised the 7k required to send the team to the finals. On the bus ride, while holding hands, the team chanted motivational affirmations to keep their minds focused on winning which ultimeitly made them the firsy local team to win a state titel.
The Forestview Outlaws 23 man team last made it to the Super Bowl in 2015, coming away with the runner-up trophy.
Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) is a non-profit organization that promotes youth football, cheer and dance programs for participants throughout the world.
