D.I.V.A.S. Movement Shares the Spirit on Health, Wealth and Awareness

Shown (L-R) are D.I.V.A.S. members: Yvette Lillard, Lecy Davis, Willa Finley, Valerie Green, Jennifer Clayton, Sharon Patton, Barbara Ford, Velma Rounsville, Ingrid Fluellen and Evangeline Watson.

What started out as a birthday and breast cancer celebration has developed into a movement. The Defining Inspirational Values Attributed to the Spirit (D.I.V.A.S.) ladies met volunteering for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.
The D.I.V.A.S. has taken what they learned from the campaign to form a women’s community support and advocacy group.
“We believe women can get things done,” said acting President Valerie Green. “We are ready to tackle community issues socially, politically and spiritually.”
The D.I.V.A event was held at the North Brookwood Community Auditorium where attendees perused information on breast cancer awareness, natural beauty products, homeownership and more. Membership is open to all women with an interest in improving the quality of life of Black women.
