Community Outpouring Helps Provide Food for Needy Veterans

?

Last week, local seniors volunteered and served lunch to honor homeless and in-need veterans at the Clara White Mission. The meals were donated by the Jacksonville Beach Angie’s Sub Restaurant.  The meal was a huge outpouring of prepackaged, non-perishable food collected by the charity Turning Points in America.  “We don’t know them all, but we owe them all,” said President Beth Heath of Turning Points in America.  Joining the volunteers were the Arlington Women’s Club, VFW 7909, Ponte Vedra American Legion, and Ponte Vedra Tea Party and the  Benghazi Tribute Team. Volunteers served over 200 homeless and in-need veterans.  Shown (L to R) are volunteers Pat McBride, Emma Toomer, Sheila Brown-Jefferson and Lu Coberly.
