Lincoln Douglass Emancipation Proclamation 160th Commemoration

January 2, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, proclaiming that all persons held as slaves would be free. To commemorate this major milestone in this country’s history, the late Eartha M.M. White began a celebration which has lasted over 8 decades. The Lincoln-Douglass Memorial Emancipation Proclamation Association, Inc. continues this tradition every year and the 160th anniversary celebration will be held on January 2nd, at Edward Waters University, at 10:45 a.m., in the Lee Cousins Milne Auditorium, 1658 Kings Road. Keynote speaker will be Reverend Dr. J.W. Rigsby, (Retired) Presbyterian Church (USA). To attend and for more info email Brenda Kelly at Beekay108@yahoo.com.
