Business leaders, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, sororities/fraternities and community activists were in attendance for the Fifth Annual Jacksonville Image Awards. The formal attire event invited winners to take the stage inside the Nathan H. Wilson Center for the Arts center at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s South. The Jacksonville Image Awards were created to honor and celebrate achievements of individuals and organizations in the African American community to inspire, educate, and enlighten everyone with awards and achievable recognition for their success.
The Awards honor those who have achieved success in a chosen profession or career, and whose efforts have made a significant positive impact in the community. Honorees are noted for the consistency and longevity of their work, including their individual achievements and efforts to inspire and support the success of others. Categories Awarded:
Trailblazer Award: Dr. Shanna Carter; The Rising Star Award: Karlie King; One to Watch Award: Dr. Erin Anthony; Be the Change, Be Yourself Award: Erica Rose Carnegie; Music Excellence Award: Tracy Morris; Education Excellence Award; Dr. Tracy Oliver; Innovator Award: Greg Burton and Pinnacle Award winner, Michele Godfrey-Watson. Godfrey-Watson is theVice President Commercial Services and Treasury Services and DEI Council Chairperson at Community First Credit Union. “When you leave this place and go back to your homes, never forget to be the transformation that you want to see,” Godfrey-Watson said. “This will always create space where God can give the increase.” Shown with her award is Michele Godfrey-Watson with husband Robert Watson.
