The second in a series of social events was held last weekend for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Gamma Rho Omega Chapter, 2015 Debutante Coterie. The event was held in honor of Debutante Darian Kennedi Waters.
The debutantes spent a casual day of fun, sun, and camaraderie at historic American Beach. Activities included a tour of the American Beach Museum, which included the exhibit memorabilia of Abraham Lincoln Lewis and his great granddaughter Mavynee (Beach Lady) Betsch.
The debutantes also enjoyed a walk on the sandy beach, and American Beach-styled cuisine. Mrs. Roslyn Phillips led them in line-dance instructions; and later, they enjoyed the smooth Jazz sounds of Saxophonist “Pierre” at Burney Park. The affair was hosted by Gamma Rho Omega Chapter members Ruth Waters McKay and Francina Adams Dunbar.
