Domestic violence claimed 21 lives in Duval County in 2025, with at least one fatal case reported in every Jacksonville police district, according to the county’s latest Domestic Violence Fatality Review Report.
As October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Hubbard House is joining Jacksonville law enforcement officials and community leaders to raise awareness, support survivors and emphasize that domestic violence affects every neighborhood.
The report documented 16 domestic violence-related homicide cases in 2025, resulting in 21 deaths, including three perpetrators who died by suicide. Ten cases involved intimate partner violence, while six involved family violence.
To underscore the widespread impact of abuse, Hubbard House launched its #WhereYouAre social media campaign, reminding residents that domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of neighborhood, income or background.
“Your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors — someone you know has experienced domestic violence. Someone you know may be living in abuse right now,” said Dr. Gail Patin, president and CEO of Hubbard House.
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, State Attorney Melissa Nelson and other community partners have joined the initiative, emphasizing the importance of prevention, education and community support.
Outside the Duval County Courthouse, 6,447 purple flags serve as a visual reminder of the number of injunctions for protection filed in the county during 2025. Throughout October, Hubbard House is encouraging residents to share the #WhereYouAre campaign, attend awareness events and support survivors through donations and education.
On Oct. 21, the nonprofit will host its annual Barbara Ann Campbell Memorial Breakfast and officially launch its 50th anniversary year, including the unveiling of a new logo and plans for an anniversary gala.
