JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) is proud to announce that President Rachael Tutwiler Fortune has been named incoming Board Chair of the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, the statewide membership organization that supports local education foundations across Florida.

Fortune’s appointment reflects JPEF’s growing leadership role in advancing public education across Florida and underscores the organization’s position as a trusted, independent partner in building the talent pipeline and strengthening the systems that prepare young people for success.

JPEF was established in 2009 as a result of the Forum on Quality Education, where Jacksonville business and civic leaders identified the need for a high-capacity local education fund focused on long-term improvement in public education. Research showed that student outcomes improved in communities with a well-resourced, community-owned organization that could engage a broad group of stakeholders and sustain focus on systemic public education reform.

JPEF works independently and in partnership with Duval County Public Schools, civic leaders, employers, philanthropy, educators, families, and community organizations to strengthen public education in Jacksonville. Through research, convening, advocacy, and strategic investments, JPEF helps align community resources around what matters most: effective educators and leaders, stronger schools, and students prepared for college, careers, and life.

“Strong public schools are essential to a strong workforce and a thriving economy,” said Fortune. “I am honored to serve as chair of the Consortium and to work alongside local education foundations across Florida that are building partnerships, supporting educators, and helping students prepare for bright futures.”

The Consortium’s board members play a critical role in supporting local education foundations as they connect communities, businesses, and school systems around shared goals for student achievement and long-term economic vitality.
