Atlanta Daily World stands as the first Black daily publication in America. Started in 1927 by Morehouse College graduate W.A. Scott. Currently owned by Real Times Media, ADW is one of the most influential Black newspapers in the nation.
Following the January 31 matchup between Morehouse College and Tuskegee University, Tuskegee head coach Benjy Taylor was led away in handcuffs after the game—an incident that quickly spread across social media. Taylor has since filed a lawsuit against Morehouse College and two of its officers, seeking damages of up to $1 million.
The officers named in the suit are R. Clark and M. Roberson. According to the complaint, Taylor asked Officer Clark to remove Morehouse football players from the court after they allegedly harassed Tuskegee players and staff. When no action was taken, Taylor says he alerted Clark again after the players ran onto the court during the postgame handshake line, leading to a scuffle. At that point, Taylor was handcuffed by Clark and escorted away with assistance from Roberson.

Taylor’s attorney, Harry Daniels, said the coach later sought treatment at a local medical center due to a spike in blood pressure following the incident. The lawsuit further alleges that Morehouse acted with “willful intent, malice, bad faith, and a reckless disregard for the consequences,” describing the officers’ actions as intentional and indifferent to Taylor’s federally protected rights.
Daniels argues that the public nature of the incident has caused lasting damage to Taylor’s reputation and future opportunities, justifying the seven-figure claim.
About a month earlier, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced disciplinary action against Morehouse, including a fine.
