Sweater Drive Nets Homeless Winter Essentials

Shown is David McGowan, WJCT Public Media’s president/CEO awarding Humana a plaque for partnering with this year’s sweater drive.

WJCT Public Media and community partners distributed more than 10,000 pounds of sweaters, jackets, and blankets collected during the 23rd annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive. These donations are now in the hands of First Coast residents served by the Clara White Mission and the City Rescue Mission, ensuring our neighbors experiencing homelessness have warm essentials for the winter months. Throughout November, WJCT Public Media collaborated with partners to gather cold-weather items from drop-off locations across Northeast Florida. Today’s distribution marks one of the largest deliveries in the history of the local sweater drive. Representatives from each partner organization were onsite to help unload donations and speak about the importance of supporting vulnerable members of our community.
