Duval County Retired Educators Association (DCREA) showcased once again that “age ain’t nothing but a number.” The organization recently hosted Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier to strengthen the relationship between retired educators and the local school district. DCREA member Marguerite Warren explained the importance of the meeting: “Age is not a factor when you have commitment and expertise. We are retired teachers, administrators, and more who still contribute our knowledge and resources towards improving our schools and community.” DCPS Superintendent Bernier, known for his successful partnerships with community groups, agreed. He shared district successes and school improvement plans and participated in a Q&A. “Our schools need the continued support of organizations like the retired educators. Together, we can continue to achieve.” DCREA, one of 69 Florida Retired Educators Association chapters, has an ongoing partnership with Annie R. Morgan Elementary, where it provides tutoring and school supplies. Annie R. Morgan moved from an “F” to a “C” grade last year.
