Sheriff T.K. Waters, elected in 2022 as the seventh Sheriff of Duval County, brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, where he served in leadership roles across Patrol, Investigations, and Homeland Security. He oversaw major units such as Homicide, Robbery, and Special Assault, and led the launch of the agency’s Violence Reduction Strategy, meeting with over 450 identified group or gang members to support crime prevention efforts. Waters built strong partnerships with community organizations and the National Network for Safe Communities to expand the city’s approach to reducing violent crime. His administration focuses on increasing staffing, targeting violent offenders, building public trust, and improving the use of technology and resources.
