SELMA Movie, Dinner and Dialogue

January 11, 2015 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

SELMA Movie, Dinner and Dialogue – MOSAIC: Experiences of Mixed Race People & Families presents a film screening, dinner and thoughtful discussion of “SELMA: The Story of A Movement,” Sunday, January 11th at 4 p.m. at the AMC Theatres Regency 24, 9451 Regency Square Blvd. Immediately following the film is the dinner and dialogue at Carrabba’s, 9740 Atlantic Blvd. The film chronicles the tumultuous three month period in 1965, when Dr. King led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. Special guests for this event include Florida trailblazers whose legacies fill the pages of our voting rights history: Congresswoman Corrine Brown, first African- American since reconstruction elected to US Congress from Florida, Senator Betty Holzendorf, first female elected to the State Senate from Duval County, Dr. Wendell Holmes, first African-American elected to a school board in Florida and Senator Arnett Girardeau, first African American male elected to the Florida Senate.
