The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted the second annual Teen Summit: College and Career Ready program at Westside High school on Tuesday, May 16th. The event was a highlight of May Week, a national program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that was created in 1920. A week in May is designated for activities and programs to promote the significance of academic and professional achievements.

Teen Summit: College and Career Ready focuses on the transition for high school seniors to a successful postsecondary journey or a rewarding career.  A distinguished panel, with community members representing Wells Fargo Bank, Duval County Public Schools, The Law Office of Kevin M. Cobbin, and Jacksonville University, provided personal insight and professional expertise as they informed over 70 students how to chart their course for success.

A skilled moderator facilitated the panel discussion, allowing students from the audience to ask individual questions as well as other guests attending the program. In addition, the Social Action Committee of the sorority was on sight to conduct voter registration. As a result of their efforts, 25 high school students were registered to vote. The Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues to be a leader in the First Coast Community!
