The Florida Theatre’s stage will be graced by 10 aspiring young ladies this weekend during the 40th Miss Delta Teen Pageant. The pageant, hosted by the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, starts at 8 p.m. Celebrating its Ruby Anniversary, the Jacksonville Alumnae Chapter will also rename the Dedication Award to the Myrtle W. Turner Dedication Award during the evening festivities. DeSTined For Greatness: The Evolution of Woman is the competition’s theme this year.
The contestants were selected based on recommendations, academic achievement, positive attitude and talent auditions. Private interviews are done before the show and the night of the pageant they will be judged on their evening gown presentation, a question-and-answer sessions and dance or musical performances for the talent showcase. Ms. Delta Teen 2017 will win the title crown, monetary prizes and gifts.
