Wealth Watchers Inc, summer Comprehensive Rural Opportunities Program (C.R.O.P.) students revved into action producing sustainable and self-sufficient living farming options. They recently graduated from the program and for their final project, they built a chicken coop that will be featured at the Backyard Chicken Workshop on Aug. 26. Their summer training included: A Game, Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, (Hot Brique Iron) HBI and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER). The C.R.O.P. program assists veterans and farmers to increase their knowledge of and participation in agriculture business and growing small farms. The goal is to reach socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers in rural Florida and southeast and southwest Georgia to operate and retain their farms and receive the full range benefits of the USDA.
