Tweens Learn Value of Self Care

Shown are tweens learning self-care at an early age.

The 7th Annual “Beauty For Tweens” event, hosted by Nouvo Studio & Wellness Inc. in partnership with Woodlawn Presbyterian Church was filled with empowering workshops that taught Tween girls essential self-care, healthy beauty tips and mental health coaching. Licensed Mental Health Coaching advocates were on the northside church campus alongside the tweens with interactive sessions and Q&A dialogue. The inspiring event educated young girl attendees on maintaining natural healthy hair, nails, and overall well-being, but also cultivated a nurturing environment where every girl felt valued and confident. “Facilitators came armed with warmth and community spirit that made the event memorable,” said founder Gwen Stroud. Tweens were excited to learn new hair and beauty techniques, along with understanding their body’s structure, healthy eating habits, educational resource assistance and motivational pep talk. Workshop also delved into bullying, self-esteem attributes and dysmorphia. Additionally, each year the tweens event registers girls that require personal attention to assist with tutoring, housing and family mental health disputes. Shown are the tweens completing an interactive beauty challenge.
