Seventeen teenagers were recently inducted into the Duval County chapter of Top Teens of America (TTA) as the chapter was established. The ceremony was held in the banquet hall of First Timothy Baptist Church with members of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated® Duval County Chapter, National officers of TTA, family and friends of the inductees. The primary objective of TLOD when it was first formed in 1964 was to help alleviate the moral and social problems engulfing the youth in our communities. The group was formally named “Top Teens of America” in 1968. And in 1969, each chapter in TLOD was charged with the responsibility of forming a chapter for teens. Throughout the years, TTA has expanded its membership to include over 250 chapters in the six major geographical areas of the organization in the US, Africa, Canada, and the Caribbean. Over 5,000 middle and high school teens are now TTA members. And now Jacksonville has added seventeen more.
The National TTA Director, the National TTA Assistant Director along with the Teen National Chaplain, Sergeant-at-Arms, and Parliamentarian conducted the Induction Ceremony for the Teens. This new organization of teens will make their presence known through service and local partnerships with the Top Ladies of Distinction Incorporated® Duval County Chapter as well as set their footprints of service in the National Top Teens of America organization.
