Ribault High School Reopens with a Brand New Look

Staff, students and local politicos participated in the re-opening of Ribault High School.

Jean Ribault High School, has a brand new look to start the upcoming school year after it was torn down and rebuilt. It is the first new high school built under the city’s half penny sales tax.

Nearly 1,500 students experienced the $58 million, 234,000-square-foot campus on its first day. As an additional benefit for students, Vystar Credit Union also opened its on-campus branch where students can learn financial literacy.

Located at 3701 Winton Drive, Ribault High School opened in 1957 and was integrated in 1966 eventually becoming a majority Black High School. Known as a sports powerhouse, the school has won four state basketball championships and 12 state girls’ basketball championships the highest total in the state.
