The First Coast National Pan-Hellenic Council recently awarded $2,500 in scholarships to 15 area students through their Jacksonville Achievers Program. This initiative is a recognition program honoring local students in Jacksonville, Florida who demonstrate academic success, talent and commitment to personal development and character. Since its development in 2012, over 100 students from grades 5 through 12 have been recognized for their achievements.

The money for the scholarships was raised from the “game nights” held during the previous year. The activity gives members an opportunity to fellowship together.

The Council consists of three chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. chapters; two chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; two chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.; and one chapter each of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
