Dedra Tufon as Miss Black USA

Nationwide — The Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant Organization is proud to announce that Dedra Tufon, the reigning 2024 Ms. Black California USA, has been crowned the 2024 Ms. Black USA. Dedra earned the prestigious national title during a grand competition held on August 3, 2024, in Washington, D.C. This momentous achievement marks a significant milestone for Dedra and brings great pride to the California Bay Area.

Dedra’s victory is the result of her relentless dedication to promoting body diversity and mental health awareness. As the author of the highly regarded book Beauty in Body Diversity, Dedra has become a trailblazer in redefining beauty standards and advocating for self-acceptance, especially among women of color. Her platform as Ms. Black USA will allow her to continue this vital work on a national scale, addressing issues such as eating disorders and mental health that affect individuals across the country.

“I am incredibly honored to be named Ms. Black USA 2024,” Dedra Tufon shared. “This title is more than just a crown—it’s a platform to continue advocating for those who feel unseen and unheard. I am committed to using this opportunity to promote mental health, body positivity, and the power of diversity, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their true selves.”

Dedra’s journey has been characterized by her passionate efforts to foster inclusivity and celebrate diversity. Her advocacy and personal experiences have made her a role model and a source of inspiration for many. With her national title, Dedra aims to further raise awareness about the importance of mental health support, particularly in communities of color where stigma often prevents individuals from seeking help.

Beyond her advocacy work, Dedra is dedicated to empowering young women across the nation. She plans to launch workshops and public speaking engagements that will focus on self-esteem, leadership, and the value of embracing diversity.
