By Jackie Perry | Esprit de Corps Center for Learning wrapped up a highly successful STEMmersion Summer Camp held June 16–20, 2025, welcoming students from grades 3–12 into a hands-on week of discovery, creativity, and real-world exposure. Designed to inspire future innovators, the camp featured immersive learning in robotics, 3D printing, drone tech, web coding, art, and storytelling, empowered by the generous support of community sponsors and professionals. The highlight of the week included Career Exploration Day on Wednesday, where students met with STEM professionals from various industries. One special guest, Aaron Mervin, owner and founder of Head Shots, shared how impactful mentoring youth has been in his own journey, “I get so much delight from giving back and mentoring kids of all ages,” said Mervin. “Their curiosity and energy remind me why this work matters.” Poise Teen Summer Camp Program, founded by Delmas Harper, shared her appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate: “I’m so glad our organizations had the chance to come together and help empower our kids as one.”
Campers also participated in a downtown field trip to Sweet Pete’s Candy for a hands-on candy making class, and joined in Juneteenth celebrations, where history and innovation merged to help students understand freedom and advancement through a cultural lens. EDC’s STEMmersion continues to stand as a model for merging innovation, mentorship, and culture in a way that transforms lives and communities.
