Following the recent closings of several neighborhood pharmacies in North Florida, Florida Blue is taking proactive steps to ensure its members continue to have convenient access to their medications. With recent Walgreens closures in north Jacksonville, including three in a localized area, Florida Blue is reminding its members of alternative pharmacy options to minimize disruptions to their care.
“We understand the importance of convenient and reliable access to medications, and we’re committed to supporting our members through this transition,” said Darnell Smith, North Florida Market President for Florida Blue. “We encourage our members to explore options like Amazon Pharmacy Home Delivery, or Walgreens’ free delivery service, which offer in-network delivery to their homes.
Additionally, Florida Blue works with many participating pharmacies, including smaller retailers and independent pharmacies, with the options varying depending on a member’s health plan. Members can log in at FloridaBlue.com and search by pharmacy to see their specific options.
Florida Blue is working closely with Walgreens to support members impacted by these closings and is also offering assistance at its three Jacksonville area Florida Blue Centers, which can be found at FloridaBlue.com/Center. Members can visit or call one of these Centers or call the number on the back of their member ID card for help finding a new local pharmacy or home delivery service.
Florida Blue is committed to ensuring that its members have access to the health care and medications they need.
