In an inspiring display of unity and purpose, the FLAJAX Club collaborated with the northside community to support local nonprofit Our Homeroom Jax during its inaugural back-to-school drive. The result, nearly $1,800 raised in financial contributions and over $500 in school supplies collected; benefiting dozens of local students as they prepare to head back to class. Founded and directed by Mariah Dorvil, the nonprofit provides academic support, mentorship, and enrichment to children across the city. With the help of community partners like the FLAJAX Club, the organization continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
“This is what the FLAJAX Club is all about,” said one club member. “Service, leadership, and being active in our neighborhoods, especially when it comes to supporting our youth.” Throughout the event, club members and volunteers filled backpacks, sorted supplies, and engaged in meaningful conversations. The gathering also became a reunion of sorts, reconnecting familiar faces in Jacksonville some of whom hadn’t seen each other in over 20 years.
The FLAJAX Club, a historic organization known for its commitment to leadership and service, plans to build on this momentum in the months ahead. With plans for future collaborations and mentorship initiatives, the success marked just the beginning of a renewed effort to uplift and empower the next generation.
