JEA’s Senior Customer Benefit Tips on Saving on their Utility Bills

With heat and humidity on the rise, JEA’s senior customers will benefit from tips on saving on their utility bills. Senior customers can find that help along with other resources at JEA’s monthly senior resource fair on Wednesday, July 16 at JEA headquarters. At the free event, local agencies join JEA Customer Care agents in assisting some of the utility’s most vulnerable customers with ways to save money and get assistance.

JEA relies on community partners to provide direct financial assistance to senior customers. Those partners – Catholic Charities, Jewish Family & Community Services and City of Jacksonville Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program – have distributed a total of $108,108 to 218 seniors at the monthly event since April 2024, when JEA restarted Senior Day at its new headquarters.

Organizations participating in Wednesday’s Senior Resource Fair include City of Jacksonville Community Outreach, City of Jacksonville Property Appraisers, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office R.E.V.A.M.P., LISC Heirs’ Property educators, Jacksonville Transportation Authority, ElderSource SHINE Program, Lutheran Social Services Steps 2 Success, Catholic Charities, United Way’s 2-1-1, and JEA’s Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program. The groups provide information on available resources that help seniors save money.

For those in need of transportation, Ride United offers temporary, prescheduled Lyft rides to residents in need of transportation to critical services such as Senior Day at JEA. Reach out to United Way’s 211 help line to learn about appointments for financial assistance and to determine ride eligibility. Seniors from the COJ’s Lincoln Villa Senior Center will also be bused to the event for a group orientation to agency vendors.
