Historian Mildred Alene Murrell To Share Personal Memories And Stories

Learn about Zora Neale Hurston, a major author in American literature and the Harlem Renaissance, by someone who knew her well—Mildred Alene Murrell. Murrell is the author of In And Around Jacksonville, Florida, In The 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s. The 96-year-old historian will share memories of life in Jacksonville in the 1920s and beyond, including personal stories of the era about Zora Neale Hurston, African-American life on the Southside, the Great Depression, education and family.
