Black Beach Exhibit

The Black Beach is a contemporary art exhibition inspired by the story of the historic American Beach. Established in 1935 in defiance of segregation and the Jim Crow laws of the era, American Beach was the largest and most popular black-only beach community in Northeast Florida and became a safe haven for African Americans in the area. The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, February 20th, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Heather Moore Community Gallery, 207 N. Laura Street, Suite 300. For more info call (904) 281-5599.
