About the Friends of Brentwood Public Library, Inc.

The Friends of Brentwood Public Library, Inc. was formed by Matriarch Sharon Coon during the City of Jacksonville’s economic crisis in 2013. The 13.9 percent city-wide budget decrease threatened the closure of the Brentwood Public Library, an urban core library, and five other library branches as part of a $2.4M reduction in the library budget. Now thanks to the Friends of Brentwood Library, more than 560,319 customers benefit from the Brentwood Branch Library services and from the Friends of Brentwood Library’s literacy and community outreach events from 2013.
