New feature honors the legacy of the Divine Nine while last year’s Homecoming Hookup Report proves Homecoming is about more than just the party
Just in time for Homecoming season, BLK, the leading dating app for Black singles, is introducing Greek Life Mode, a first-of-its-kind feature that lets members proudly represent their Divine Nine sorority or fraternity directly on their profile with a new sticker pack. With an exclusive sticker for each of the nine organizations, users can showcase their letters, find matches within the Greek family, and carry the energy from the yard into their dating lives.
For over 100 years, the Divine Nine have been central to the HBCU experience and Black culture at large. From community service and campus leadership to step shows and yard pride, these organizations embody connection, excellence, and legacy. By integrating Divine Nine representation into the app, BLK is creating a digital extension of one of the most meaningful aspects of Homecoming: bringing people together.
“Greek life has always been about connection, creating bonds that last well beyond college,” said Amber Cooper, Head of Brand for BLK. “With Greek Life Mode, we’re honoring that legacy while giving our members a new way to connect during one of the most celebrated cultural moments of the year.”
As part of the launch, BLK is rolling out exclusive digital stickers for each of the nine organizations – Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Iota Phi Theta. Designed by LaVonne Coker, a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University and member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., each sticker allows members to proudly display their affiliation on their BLK profile.
Homecoming by the Numbers
BLK’s latest feature builds on the app’s growing role in celebrating Homecoming culture. Last year, BLK released its first-ever Homecoming Hookup Report, surveying users about how they connect, mingle, and sometimes rekindle during the season. The playful but revealing data showed that Homecoming is about far more than just partying – it’s about tradition, community, and relationships.
Key Findings:
- Hookups Are Common, But Not the Whole Story: 41% of attendees admitted to a Homecoming hookup in the past.
- Private Over Public: 63% said they prefer more private settings, like an afterparty or hotel room, for their rendezvous.
- Keep It Chill with Exes: 77% said they’d rather avoid drama if they ran into an ex, focusing instead on enjoying the vibes.
- The Ultimate HBCU Rankings
- Best Overall Homecoming: NC A&T
- Best-Looking Females: Howard University
- Best-Looking Guys: Morehouse and Grambling (tie)
- Most Lit Alumni: NC A&T
- Wildest Nights: FAMU
- Best for Hookups: NC A&T and FAMU (tie)
The results captured how Homecoming has evolved into a moment where culture, connection, and romance intersect, whether it’s reliving college days, reconnecting with old flames, or sparking something new. See the full report here.
From celebrating Black love to amplifying HBCU culture, BLK continues to lead the conversation on how Black singles connect. With Greek Life Mode and insights like the Homecoming Hookup Report, BLK is proving that the app isn’t just about swipes, it’s about honoring legacy, celebrating culture, and keeping the energy of the yard alive all season long.
